Dana J. Bahan

As a young boy, I found joy in the great outdoors, hunting and exploring nature with my father and grandfather. These experiences instilled in me a lifelong love for the natural world. My educational journey was unconventional; attending ten different schools made it challenging to focus on learning. Yet, history stories captured my imagination, thanks to my grandfather’s captivating storytelling.

Baseball was another passion that shaped my youth. I cherished playing with my dad and friends, excelling both in high school and college. After high school, I joined the Air Force, serving in Vietnam with distinction, earning awards, and receiving an honorable discharge.

My academic pursuits were diverse and enriching. I attended four colleges, focusing on physical education, recreation, youth sports, theology, and history. These studies culminated in earning an Associate Degree, a bachelor’s degree, and a master’s degree.

Throughout my career, working with youth brought me immense fulfillment. I spent many summers at camps, taught at a private school, and served as Recreation Director and Chaplain at a children’s home for troubled youth.

Now, in my retirement, I relish the simple pleasures of life. Reading and occasionally writing provide a creative outlet, while the outdoors continues to call to me, especially when fishing and enjoying the company of friends.
